G-enerate Compost: Levy Middle school is currently composting their yard waste. They use this material in their schools garden.

R-educe, R-ecycle, R-euse: Recycling is practiced in every classroom on the Levy Middle school campus. Student participation in the recycling collection and quantification process is in the works at Levy. At present, 5-cent deposit containers are being collected with the proceeds going toward the funding of student activities, such as music, dance, athletics and peer leadership clubs. Recycling advisories are posted in the hallways throughout
the school.

E-ducate: Flyers line the hallways and classrooms reminding students, faculty, staff and parents to use their blue bins and recycle. 7th Grade science classes use the school garden as an outdoor classroom. 7th graders, as well as other willing students, care for the school gardens.

E-valuate the impact of everyday activities: Unfortunately, for many people, littering is a common practice. Students at Levy have refused to let litter take over their school landscape. To combat trash pollution 7th students at Levy involved with the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) group had an Earth Day trash clean up, during which they picked up 10 garbage bags of trash around the school facility! WOW!

Nationalize the principals of responsible paper consumption: Paper conservation is a big theme among teachers and administrators. Many members of the faculty save one-side-clean paper for re-use.

Keep Up the Good Work!
